      Norm,

Thank you for your inquiry. There are a few things you want to check. First you would verify that your fuel pressure meets the requirements of 7-11 inches of water column (4-6 oz.) pressure. If that is correct I would adjust the valves on the engine if this has not been done in the past. Part of the maintenance schedule for your engine is to adjust the valves periodically. The fuel is drawn through the demand regulator by engine vacuum when the engine is turning over. If this has not been done on your engine it could be a contributing factor. Lastly you could take the demand regulator apart and check the diaphragm to see that it is still pliable and no bugs have made it a home. The diaphragm can become brittle as it ages.

I’ve added an instruction sheet for adjusting the valves to “Support for Model HPS9000E/A” for your convenience.

      Peter,
If you click on the parts list for this product it is illustrated on page two. It is under the fuel tank right above the battery.

My generator is running a bit slow 59 he unloaded and the voltage is low 110 v unloaded. I live in Hawaii and maintenance is very difficult. How can I adjust the speed to the spec.

  4. Question

    Christopher Reimer

The generator runs at 60hz, 145-150 volts unloaded. Put a decent load (heat gun), the engine slows, maintains 60hz, and volts drop to 120-129. How do I get the generator to maintain 120 volts loaded and unloaded.

Christopher, please double-check your frequency at no load, half-load and full-load. It doesn’t make sense that you have the same frequency with no-load and loaded. No-load frequency should be set at a maximum of 62 hertz with half-load frequency at 60 hertz. Full load frequency should be around 58 hertz.

Dale, I checked the frequency loaded: 60hz. I am less concerned about that, than the high voltage. My boiler won’t accept the high voltage. Do you think that is a bad capacitor or a bad voltage regulator?

Will do, Thanks. FYI, I replaced all three capacitors and it didn’t make a difference (no surprise and the old capacitors tested good for micro Fahrads

Michael, the operators manual and parts list are on the left side of the product page under “downloads”. There is only one gasoline fuel valve below the fuel tank.

I recently had to replaced 1/2 hp submersible pump with a 1 HP pump. I have used the DYNA 9000 for ears with no problems. On our first power outage I was unable to det the pump to start. Do I need a larger generator? If so how large of a generator is needed to run a 1 HP submersible pump. Thanks

  10. Question

    Michael Keith

Is my winco 9000 e/a portable generator supposed to run at same speed with load or without. I plugged a electric drill pulled the trigger. The drill worked fine. No change in engine speed. Is this normal? Thanks

Michael, the governor on the engine will compensate for any load applied to the generator to keep the engine running at the proper speed. Light loads such as a drill should not affect the speed. This would be normal operation. If you apply a large load such as starting a larger electric motor, you will notice a temporary reduction in engine speed, however the engine should recover rather quickly. Barry, the engine burns 1.3 gallons of gasoline per hour. The fuel tank is 4.5 gallons. Therefore, approximately 3.5 hours run time on a full tank of gasoline. If you need more technical support, please contact our Technical Support Department @ 507-357-8334 or [email protected].
