Richard Wilk –
I have a SPE 4000/A serial number 73818 J86…purchased in 1986 and used once with gas for the north Eastener Sandy in 2012…tried to use the electric start with Propane, but it does not even turn…the hand re-coil will start and it runs…I jumpered out the start switch and provided 12 volts DC from a battery pack…no go…what could be internal troubleshooting procedure to do?…thanks in advance…my contact information as follows: Richard Wilk (cell 631-664-7461) email [email protected]

I own 2 of these. It will not start from a battery jump pack! Must has an automotive battery with automotive battery cables.

I have a Winco spe 4000 generator. It works fine. I remember that it could also be started using the car to jump start it with cables. It would energize the field causing the generator to rotate and start the gas motor. It has been about 20 years since I used it. What I don’t know is how the cables from my truck get connected to the gen set. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Douglas McKittrick.
