Hi, I was given an HPS 6000 HE/A PN 16079-014 Serial Number 40489-J99 and before I do anything with it wanted to ask if it provides “Clean” power so that I can be comfortable hooking it up to my Well Pump 1HP and my Gas Forced Hot Water Boiler which is a Weil McClain High Efficiency Ultra Series and a microwave in case of emergencies only. Lee, Your model does not provide perfect clean power. The harmonic distortion for your model was not tested 20 years ago, however we would estimate it to be greater than 5%. We have seen some furnaces & boilers in the last several years that do not like any generators frequency unless the generator is an “inverter” design. Your model is not an inverter generator. You can safely try to power your appliances and see if they work. If your furnace or boiler does not not like the frequency is will not run and throw a code. It should run the well pump and microwave. If you have further questions, please call our Service Department @ 507-357-6831.
Have an HPS6000HE that runs on natural gas. It’s close to 10 years old, hasn’t been used much at all, is very clean and I run it every three months. I would have to crank the engine 10 seconds at a time for about 5 -6 times before it would start. Now it’s taking 12 or more tries and when it finally starts, it’s very rough and is struggling. Eventually it gets up to speed and then runs fine after that. Unfortunately I think it’s only a matter of tie before it just won’t start or worse I’m doing damage trying to start it. The battery is new, gas pressure is fine, spark plug looks good, air filter is clean. Hoping to get advice on what it may be and what to do about it. Thank you.
Chris, You may have a demand regulator that needs replacing. The diaphragm could have become brittle over the last 10 years. You can order the part from our Service Department @ 507-357-6831.
I have a HP 6000 that had been stored in a garage for 20+ years. I cleaned the carburetor, and started it, but it does not produce electricity. I plugged a skill saw that does run, and it will not operate with the generator. The generatore was brand new when stored.
Leonard, with the engine turned off, remove the end bracket assembly from the generator. Then un-plug the capacitors and replace them. They are held in by a strap that you will have to loosen. Polarity doesn’t matter when connecting the new capacitors. The illustrated parts list is on this page for your assistance.
