This is the Generator you Really want to Buy

We have owned this Model Winco for well over 10 years now, This is by far the best generator we have ever owned, it is dependable, a workhorse, well made, we use it for backup on our off grid residence, for supplying the electric source for welding. We use the battery, used for starting by relocating it indoors so the battery does not freeze with longer cable s to connect to the generator. The Honda Engine has been a good match for this generator, although Honda is very difficult to obtain assistance from. The Engine wiring is difficult to wire for automatic starting, but that was overcome. You want a generator that works and you depend on buy the Winco HPS12000-HE/A

  2. Question

    David Doyle

My HPS12000HE/A supports my house power requirements fine except for my propane furnace. When it was below 32 deg F for a couple of days and I tried to turn on the furnace, it would come on and shut off after about 5 minutes or just not come on. We were having rolling blackouts and when the main house power was on, the furnace performed normally. The only thing I’ve noticed is the 240 V Ac runs at 260 Volts.

David, the voltage is slightly high and could be caused by the engine speed set too high. You should check your frequency and re-set it to 61-62 hertz no load. You can email our Service Department for more details on how to do that, or contact your closest Winco Service Dealer. [email protected] We have a dealer locator on our website.

  3. Question

    John B

The HPS manual 8199-0 suggests ground to neutral bonding must be considered by removing the neutral to ground bond in the receptacle panel. Is this connection in my generator . New use to connect to Talon Temporary panel #TL577US unmetered panel. Will use gen for power panel in unattached garage. Looks as if i need to ground generator yet as it sits in its own doghouse.

John, please consult your local electrician or electrical contractor for grounding requirements for your application. The manual is referring to connecting to an existing service and in your application you are not, so it doesn’t apply. Do not remove the neutral to ground bond and you will need to drive a ground rod at the generator.
