Hi Dwight, it’s Mark in Michigan. I have a PSS8000B. I bought it in 1999 and it still works like new. It’s installed at what used to be my summer home but I live here full time now. During the last outage I noticed that when the refrigerator kicked in the furnace would shut off. After the fridge kicked off the furnace turn back on. Same when the well pump kicks in. The lights would also dim and the 2 ceiling fans were laboring. The label on the ATS shows 110/60. I don’t think it’s sufficient as it’s wired for whole house. Could I use a ASCO185 Series 200Amp with this generator and improve the performance? Thanks Dwight.
Mark, the transfer switch is not the issue and replacing it will not improve the performance of the generator. My advise would be to get an electrician to evaluate your loads and make sure you are not exceeding the rated output of the generator at any one time.
