We traveled to Florida to attend the Spray Foam Convention & Expo and Spray Foam World Wide (SFWW). Both events were in Daytona Beach and we enjoyed the warm weather.
SFWW gave away a spray foam rig equipped with our DE30!
Congrats to the rig winner, Gino!
A week later, we stayed in Florida and attended PowerGen. While our co-workers were experiencing a Minnesota blizzard, we stayed warm and showed of our RP units, RP15, RP130 and our largest available, RP400.
March
We attended ConExpo in Las Vegas where we showed off our RP units and portable generators that are built for the industrial industry.
Parades
St. Patrick’s Day
We started our parade appearance at the Le Center’s 41st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. We handed out can coolers and a lot of candy! The Big Dog was happy to get outside and see everyone! It wouldn’t be fun without snow!
As Minnesotans, we have to take advantage of the warm weather. This summer has brought on some fun activities.
Le Sueur County Golf Classic
At the end of July, we are happy to sponsor a hole and send out a team for a round of golf. This was the 18th year Le Sueur County Veterans Service Office coordinated the golf outing. All of the proceeds from the event went towards the Veterans Vans/Veterans in Need Fund. Dale Riebel, Clint Korteum, Ryan Prososki, and Brandon DePolis enjoyed a beautiful day of 4 person scramble. They may not have won the tournament, just happy to be able to play for a great cause.

WINCO’s Big Dog Challenge
On August third, we had our first annual Big Dog Challenge. Departments competed against each other in team building challenges. The afternoon started with lunch from a local food truck, speakers from each department with quarterly updates, and a drawing for prizes. Then it was game time. We had a Jenga challenge, yard pong, and human bumper balls, the winning team won the most games. Our giant maze had participants blindfolded and their department lead standing on the outskirts giving directions. It was a pretty warm day, so the dunk tank was a hit for those that were dunked. The winners received two tickets to Valleyfair and a plaque to display in their department for bragging rights. We can’t wait for next year’s challenge!

Le Sueur County Fair
This year marked the second time we had a booth at our local county fair. The fair always has great food, rides, local vendors, and animal barns. We enjoyed meeting everyone who stopped by for games and prizes! Big Dog was especially happy that it didn’t rain this year!

Dozinky Days Parade
The Dozinky Days Parade in New Prague, MN is the largest parade we participate in. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not snowing. This year, we brought one of our RP35s to the parade. We are excited about the RP line up, which we are working on expanding to bigger power nodes. It is always a great time to get out and meet our surrounding communities!
Whether you purchased a portable, permanently mounted, or power take-off (PTO) generator you will need to figure out how you will want to get power from the generator to your equipment.
1. Plug equipment directly into the generator.
This is a simple and cost effective way. There are some disadvantages. For example, you will not be able to easily power your furnace or AC; for a light source, you will need lamps. There is also the hazard of the extension cords running through the building. It is also essential that the generator is far enough away from the building to prevent carbon monoxide from getting indoors.
2. Backfeeding
www.esfi.org
Some people (not us) will recommend backfeeding. Backfeeding is when the flow of electrical energy is in reverse and is injected back into the building without a transfer switch. This is illegal, may be deadly, and should never be attempted – under any circumstances. Backfeeding power into a building has the risk of feeding generator power onto the utility lines. This can cause harm or death to a utility worker when they come to repair a power line . They aren’t expecting power present in the line and you could be criminally prosecuted. Even if you have the main breaker off, this is an illegal practice.
The simplest and recommended way is installing a transfer switch.
HOW DOES A TRANSFER SWITCH WORK?
A transfer switch is connected to the utility power, generator power and the building load. Once the power goes out, the switch will disconnect the building from one source of power (utility) then make the connection to the generator. The transfer switch is mechanically interlocked making it impossible to connect the building to both the generator and utility at the same time. This is the same concept for both manual and automatic switches.
What does WINCO provide?
At WINCO, we are experts when it comes to recommending the best transfer switch to suit your needs.
Whether you need a manual transfer switch, an ASCO automatic transfer switch, or if you have questions on how to plug your equipment directly to the generator, we are here to help.
The WINCO Industrial Series, 4-wheel dolly kit will give your generator excellent mobility on the ground. With the 10″ flat free tires you can get through mud, snow, sand and soggy lawns. The solid steel axle runs the entire width of the generator therefore it provides superior strength. Our durable baked on powder coat paint system protects the parts from corrosion.
This dolly kit is compatible with our WL180000VE-03/A, WL18000VE-03/B, WL22000VE/A and WL22000VE/B.
