I purchased my 18/15 generator used but only a year old. It has been used very little. It has a step down chain and gear system. this system allows the tractor pto to run at a slower speed and still create 120 volts. so my engine rpm is about 1600. The tractor struggles with enough power when trying to run the a.c and normal household current, surging and pulling real hard. Can I remove the chain and pulley system and run directly from the tractor pto to the generator, realizing the tractor will have to run at a higher rpm to create 120v.?
Monty, 18/15PTCD was a Winpower model similar to the W15PTOS/A model. Yes, you can use a pto shaft to power your generator. The pto input speed is 515 rpm for both models. Please contact our Technical Support Department @ 507-357-8334 or [email protected] if needed.
